And both types (digital and physical) are often loaded with horrid DRM systems like SecureROM that, more often than not, makes the games virtually unplayable. Despite cutting out a huge chunk of the middle man cost going this route the publishers often sell the games at the same price as the physical products. Publishers have digital-only sales capability through services like Steam. As for publishers: like music most of the cost comes from the middle tier. Currently it is half off if you purchase it now.
